Critical & touchy decision for Obama to make

One of the most intense speculations on the future policy direction of the Obama presidency is whether it would retain the plan of the Bush administration to install a missiles defence system in eastern Europe. Like it or hate it, Obama will have to make a yes-or-no decision soon after he has been sworn in as the USA president on 20 January, 2009.

Putin could return as Russian president again

A straight "Yes", as well-known, will mean trouble with Russia. A straight "No" will just be giving away a powerful negotiating pont.

There is a 3rd way.
Tell the Russians the US can and will do it, but suspend the deployment pending negotiations with Russia.

There's an urgent need to have Jaw-Jaw with Russia, especially if Putin becomes President (again).

But certainly cannot "yes" today and "no" tomorrow and then "yes" again the day after tomorrow like Pak Lah :)
