According to many friends who operate retail businesses, this year's Chinese New Year mood still cannot pick up because many working people and households are experiencing financial difficulties and economic uncertainties. People seem to spend less and try to save more in anticipation of even harder time ahead.

Yes, 2007 looks like a slow year, though I don't think it will end up as a real recession.
On paper, the economy is showing a moderate amount of growth, but the money is flowing to a very limited circle of people.
The common folks are just seeing their pockets being squeezed tighter and tighter. Our neighbouring countries are also doing much better than us. Meanwhile our sleepy leader is jetting around the world enjoying the perks of office, and using OSA to suppress information on bad government decisions.
