Another new judge to hear Chin Peng' s case

According to lawyer Darshan Singh (left), the homecoming case of his client and veteran of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) Chin Peng is to be heard afresh by yet another new judge, namely Justice Mohd Zabidin on 22 June (Friday). The previous judge K.P. Gengadharan Nair passed away on 21 April at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre reportedly following a short illness at 63.

Although the case was first filed more than two years ago on 4 March 2005, the defandants named by the 82-year old Sitiawan-born Chin Peng, viz the Government of Malaysia, Home Affairs Minister, Inspector-General of Police and Chief of Defence Forces, have still not filed any affidavits of defence to the court to contest his application based on the 1989 Malaysia-CPM Peace Accords .
