In less than a month's time, I met ex-PM Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad twice. Today, both of us simply wished our common friend Tan Sri Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad (middle) a very happy 70th birthday and enjoyed the food, drink, music and friendship at the buffet party.

Ah, Happy Birthday to "Dollah Komunis". I remember reading about his arrest years ago, but I was too small then to understand what it was about. In those days, we only had NST for news and nothing else...sigh...

Only much later I read his side of the story on the Internet, and also frank opinions from others.

Dollah Kok Lanas a Communist ? Nah, he was just the target of a very dangerous political game.

" A spectre is haunting Europe -- the spectre of communism. All the powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Pope and Tsar, Metternich and Guizot, French Radicals and German police-spies.

Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of communism, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries? " (Karl Marx & Federick Engels in Manifesto of the Communist Party)
