China's most popular singer of folk songs and also world-class soprano
Song Zuying (

Olympics 2008 in Beijing on 7 August (Thurs). Song, 41, comes from the Miao ethnic minority in the Hunan Province, and she is affiliated to the PLA Navy.
Like a lot of people, I'll be watching a lot of TV on the Olympics next two weeks.
ReplyDeleteMy late grandfather had told us that his grandmother was a Miao. His grandfather had been a Ching Dynasty administrator working in a Miao ethnic region, and had married a Miao woman. Just a bit of ancestral trivia, but I found it interesting, and as a teenager I dug up a fair bit of reading material on China's Miao minority.
