Maharaja Ranjit Singh as secular hero of Sikhs

During my visit to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama in Amritsar, I learnt for the first time that the legendarily secular ruler of Punjab is still a very respected figure in the history of the community of Sikhs.

Hope to visit India more in future for insights

Sometime I wonder why those highly educated sikh people can become violent religiously. Or maybe politically?
Do they have their specific teaching to united the people like the Jews?

Not only Siks. All & every communal group, INCLUDING CHINESE, could become "violent" or "martial" under certain circumstance. The only difference is is whether the non-peaceful behaviour is aggressive or defensive.
