On Edward Gibbon's death & Karl Marx's birth
Recently, I received an email from a seemingly intelligent reader who opined that Edward Gibbon' s The History of the Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire, is fairly "Marxist". The English historian passed away in 1794 whereas the German philosopher and political economist was only born in 1818. There is a time-gap of 24 years between Gibbon' s death and Marx' s birth. In this light, we can say Marx is "Gibbonian".

Marx was in no way Gibbonian..
