Anwar Ibrahim's civilisational dialogues

One of the major domestic tasks for me in Sin Chew Jit Poh was to report and write about the civilisational dialogues patronised by the then Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

I was to read a lot of books on the subject and render the crucial terms and terminologies used by scholars and academics in the Chinese language. Of course, without being forced or bribed, I fully supported Anwar Ibrahim's project not because he was powerful then, but because the project itself was - and will still be - good to educate our multiethnic and multi-religious society as to the importance of mutual tolerance, respect and appreciation.

I still think Anwar has always been sincere on this issue. That was why he and his predominantly Muslim supporters founded not a racial or religious party but a multiethnic People's Justice Party or KeADILan that accepts non-Muslims as members and leaders.
