Is - or isn't - Zam fishing in troubled water ?

I think there is a popular misperception that when Zainuddin Maidin called for control of the Internet as well as newspapers, he speaks on behalf of ex-PM Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad because Zam has long been associated with the propaganda system of Tun's administration.

However, there is also another school of thought that opines that what Zam's utterances actually serves the interest of Abdullah because - unlike the period of 1983-2003- it is Tun who now needs freedom of the speech and media, especially in the cyberspace.

My question is why does Zam target particularly at the pro-Abdullah New Straits Times ? Is - or isn't - Zam advancing his own agenda (and/or on behalf of third faction in Umno like Najib's or for other component parties of the Barisan Nasional like MCA) by exploiting the row between his former master and current boss and fish in troubled water ?
