Soft launch of Dr.Collin Abraham's new book

My friend and senior citizen Dr. Collin Araham has written a new book titled THE FINEST HOUR: Malaysian-CPM Peace Accord in Perspective (Kuala Lumpur, SIRD, 2006) and I am honoured to have been invited by the very knowledgeable author to write a Forward for the book.

Another Forward was written by none other than Malaysia's former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

The book is going to be soft-launch on coming Saturday (4 Nov) from 11 a.m to 1.00 p.m at Kuala Lumpur's Royal Selangor Club.

In my Preface, I note that " the restoration of the class and ideological analysis of the forces, groupings and personalities that participated in the making of modern Malaya has, I believe, made the understanding of the Malayan history even more insightful ".

I also opine that the book " has succeeded to a high degree in organizing a mass of facts and figures in the modern history of Malaya, which has always been known for its diversity not only in terms of race, religion, language and culture but also social class and ideology, into an analytical framework that is intelligible".

CPM stands for the Communist Party of Malaya that was inaugurated as the first modern anti-colonial and anti-fascist political party of national liberation on our tanahair on 30 April, 1930 in a rubber plantation workers' quarters near Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan.
