Quite clear sign of lack of faith in One True X
In Abrahamic and monotheistic religions like Islam, the One True X is very firmly presupposed to be omnipresent (present at all times in all realms), omniscient (all-knowing) and omnipotent (all-powerful). The One True X, moreover, is said to have efficient as well as efficacious agents, known in English as angels, working for him/her/it and under his/her/its direct command. It follows logically that the existence of governmental offices and regulations claiming to serve the causes of defending the One True X and/or his/her/its messages is ironically a clear sign that there is a very serious lack of faith in the One True X.

James, "theology", sounds much like theory about God that monotheists are forever stuck in. Theological discourse seems meant therefore only for them.
1. Theology is not only for monotheists as there are also Hindu (polythism) and Buddhist atheism) theologies.
2. To put it simply, theology means the rational study of the Ultimate Being using LOGICAL REASONING and based on a set of non-emprical assumptions or assertions (like " God is good", "Allah is merciful" or "Buddha is Compassionate);
3. If we share, for example, the assumption or assertion that "God is good", then the theological question of "if God is good then why does God allows famines, earthquakes, tsunamis and snowstorms and other calamities to cause deaths, injuries and pains to human beings?" can be asked and reasoned;
4. Theology may lead to the affirmation or negation of existing faith;
5. So, contrary to popular but mistaken belie, theology is not superstition but rational inquiry could cause the negation of superstition.

Mostly I find this sort of definitions in dictionaries however:
Noun: theology
1. The rational and systematic study of religion and its influences and of the nature of religious truth
2. A particular system or school of religious beliefs and teachings
3. The learned profession acquired by specialized courses in religion (usually taught at a college or seminary)

The aim being to affirm rather than to be logical and analytical.
BTW, "the nature of religious truth" all demands a degree of faith, some far less than others which crowd out what's rational with what's unabashedly dogmatic and even clearly detrimental.
By the way, this entry is to sepecifically engage monotheists to rationally and systematically examine the discrepancy or contradiction between their claim of belief in the One True X and what they have actually done on earth politically. I do not talk about religion, theology and monotheism generally or abstractly or without context.

The claim of belief in the One True X carries with it the fast sprouting seeds of much human discord because of its supremacist proclivity as a spin off. The more the One True X is illiberal and political the more that is predictable.
It's difficult to hope that monotheists will be rational or analytical when in actual reality, they know little about their own religion, much less about others which are truly Persuasions.
1. You are entitled to your opinion on monotheism and monotheists and I welcome it;
2. However, let me ask you a question for your self-examination: have there been no human discords among human communities that profess polytheism such as ancient Greece or India in antiquity ?
3. Contrary to your 'belief', monotheism is NOT inherently 'supremacist'; on the contrary, monotheism in the form of Christianity and Islam contributed to the inclusive idea that all human beings are EQUAL as creatures of the One True X; however, if you mean Umno's 'Islam' as 'supremacist', then I agree with you;
4. However, you may say that another form of monotheism, namely Judaism is inherently communal or exclsivist; Umno's 'Islam' is a bit like Judaism. Isn't it ?

The benchmark is always based on the Golden Rule and whether the One True X lived by it or chose to be the only true faithful and unchangeable by dictate. We know that Christianity underwent reformation and that in the Jewish state of Israel the orthodox live alongside the modern secular Jews without conflict.
1. You are right: theocracy in the forms of the Roman Empire and Byzantine have prven to be a passing illusion in Europe;
2. You are also right: in contemporary Israel, Israeli citizens enjoy freedom of religions and FREEDOM FROM RELIGIONS;
3. But you have not answered my question: have there been no human discords in polytheist communities like ancient Greece or Indian in antiquity.
4. The One True X may not be a person-like figure as it is conceptualised or articulated in the Abrahamic religions. It may be the Tian or Heaven in ancient Chinese belief-system which, not very well known to many, actually also has the legends of seven-day creation and the equality of mankind;
Of course there have been discords among different cultures with basically different belief system throughout history . I thought this too self evident to be worth mentioning.
Also it has been said that since the advent of monotheism, there have been an inordinate number of wars fought in its name then before its appearance.
The Imperial Japanese soldiers were ready to die for their wrong cause because of their Shinto Buddhist understanding/conditioning. But this was a passing phase, not something that recurred for centuries. They've committed great atrocities in the countries they conquered and occupied in Asia for which they also suffered in return. Karmic squaring off, rebalancing.
The One True X becomes a threat, a menace only if it becomes a compulsion and a fatalistic indoctrinated ideology sponsored by a State to serve its imperialistic purpose.
Not every One True X really teaches "equality of mankind". One may teach that only to those within their own fold. You actually know which.
1. Your negative view on monotheism, while entirely wrong, is partial or one-sided. Allow me to balance it with some positives:
a. Monotheism in the form of Christianity and Islam, as I have said earlier, contributed to the idea that all human beings (including those who claim to be kings and queens) are equal as creatures of the One True X;
b. Monotheism helps to empower common people to psyhologically resist LAWLESS kings, queens princes, princesses, chamberlains and eunuchs who try to posture or position themselve on par with, or higher than, the One True X, to oppress them;
3. Of course, all religions can be, and are indeed often, manipulated to legitimise the policies and actions of the ruling classes and to dupe malleable peoples, e.g. the murderous and suicidal fanaticism of some Muslims were actually promoted by the West nations to fight 'godless' and 'atheistic' Soviet Union in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

“Love Not The World”
”For the WHOLE world is under the control of the evil one”(I John 5:19)
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. “If you were of the world, the world would love it’s own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. The “earth and it's life forms” are The Creation of The Only True GOD, Father of ALL! The “worldly” systems are the creation of, and under the dominion of “the god of this world”, he who is “the father of lies”, he who “has blinded the minds of those who believe not The Messiah”! All the nations of this world are under the dominion of, and serve, the evil one for he provides the fuel that feeds mankind’s “imag”ination, and mankind’s “imagination is destroying and perverting Creation(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures, Light, Truth, Life, Love, Peace, Faith, Simplicity, .etc.) ;-(
Once again, the “earth and it's life forms” are The Creation of The Only True GOD, Father of ALL! The current “worldly” systems are the creation of, and under the dominion of “the god of this world”.
Those who “love this world” all serve “the god of this world”, and play their part in the processes that seek to destroy The Creation of The Only True GOD. “And The Only True GOD will destroy them who destroy the earth.” (Rev 11:18c)
Global warming, polluted air, land and waters, toxic wastes, sexual perversion, evil inventions of destruction, greed, hate, carnal warfare, dis-ease ,,,etc,,, are all destructive processes that have their root in “the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life”.
The Truth Is Alive in those who have been born of The Spirit for “they no longer love this wicked, evil world and it’s things, nor do they love their own lives in this world”.
They but seek and desire The Will of GOD, their Father and Creator, as they await their final transformation. “Corruptible to Incorruptible" ndeed and Truth!
Now “the ground was cursed for Adam’s sake” because he “hearkened unto the woman”.
Adam listened to a woman rather than obeying The Only True GOD. Yet because of Faithful Noah, The Only True GOD “no longer would curse the ground for man’s sake” because Noah obeyed The Only True GOD! (Genesis 8:21-22)
And the Faithful today are exhorted to “love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”
Be not of those who deny and defy “The One GOD, Father of All”. Be not of those who are destroying and perverting HIS Creation(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures, Light, Truth, Life, Love, Peace, Hope, Mercy, Faith, .etc.)!
“Set your affections on things above”. Desire heavenly, eternal things. Quit serving ‘time’ in the prison that is this world and take heed unto The Call of "The Only True GOD" to ”Come Out of her, MY people!”
“Come out” from among those who are destroying and perverting Creation and be of those who follow The Messiah on “The Way to The Truth of The Life”.
“Come out” of the worldly systems, which are the product of mankind’s “imag”ination, especially the systems of religion. "Pure religion and undefiled before GOD The Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the world." (James 1:27)
Simply, all other religions are impure, defiled and of this wicked, evil world!
Faith will not create a system of religion!
Peace, in spite of the dis-ease(no-peace) that is of this world and it's systems of religion, for "the WHOLE world is under the control of the evil one" indeed and Truth.......
