Russia now senses its own power & influence

Like it or otherwise, Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev seems to be justified in claiming victory for Round 1 of the Russia-West Cold War because there was no prompt American or NATO military challenge to its use of forces in Georgia, and EU has also decided against applying economic sanctions against it for fear of causing uncertainties in the supply of its oil and natural gas and harm to other business relations. Ukraine has already been experiencing very serious political troubles.
