Reflecting on Ramayana

Ramayana or The Journey of Rama is an evergreen Hindu literature.

While I was in Bali, I attended and enjoyed a grand stage performance of the Ramayana. Like the Chinese Journey to the West or Xi You Ji, the Ramayana also preserves the moral message of good ultimately triumphs over evil.

In fact, the witty and brave Monkey King in Xi You Ji is actually the Chinese version of Ramayana's Hanuman. Hindu concepts and images can be found eveywhere in the traditional or pre-modern belief-system of the Chinese.
