Giving due credit to opposition & yourselves

According to the latest press report, Noh Omar has again said sorry and thank PM Abdullah for reprimanding him. Certainly, Noh Omar should personally be grateful to the PM for not sacking him or appointing him to be Malaysia's ambassador to Zimbabwe (yet).

However, for us the people in the civil society, we should thank DAP MP Teresa Kok and Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang for highlighting the scandal publicly and demanding police accountability to generate sufficient public opinion to bear on PM Abdullah's administration. We should also thank KeADILan's president Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and vice president Dr. Lee Boon Chye for reminding us the case of Nora and also Nora himself for standing upright to launch a pre-emptive strike at those dirty and crooked minds who were preparing to turn the issue into a racial one.

Don't forget also all the honest journalists in both the mainstream (especially the Chinese-language ones) and alternative media. For those who spoke up in the coffeeshops, warung-warung, pubs, offices and marketplaces, give yourselves credits too for your voices have added to the pool of public opinion.

If you want, give me just a little bit of credit too for locking myself alone up in the room for one week to trail the mental movements of those dirty and crooked minds and strike at them strategically.

Ultimately, I think we should thank all those hundreds of Reformasi guys who, through their brave and peaceful direct actions seven years ago, have shown us the way how bodoh sombong power could be humbled and defeated by standing upright, vocal and in solidarity. Their sacrifices have psychologically empowered Malaysians to be First-World citizens although the government still belongs to the Third World-type.
