Meanwhile, Zam-shows continue ...
Last Friday (7 April), the Page-3 lead story of Chinese-language Sin Chew Daily (formerly Sin Chew Jit Poh) reported the politically controversial and pathologically loquacious Minister of Information Zainuddin Maidin as saying that the fact that the National Front continues to win power proves Chinese-language newspapers are not "chauvinistic", causing many reasonably intelligent and street-smart friends to ask: was that statement attributed to Zam a change-of-heart compliment or veiled threat?
Does he mean if the National Front loses, or cannot win, power, Chinese-language newspapers could then be branded 'chauvinstic'?
A day later (8 April), Bernama reported Zam as "warning" the people " not to be easily influenced by campaigns to discredit the government through the so-called 'reformasi' movement, which is spearheaded by certain irresponsible quarters". According to the report, Zam said of late, the movement was seen resurfacing by taking advantage of the issue on the reduction of oil price subsidy by the government.
Zam's and Zams' minds are indeed still haunted by many ghosts and spectres, especially as May is approaching.
