A more plural, diversified picture of Lebanon

An Algerian friend who attended postgraduate courses on strategic studies with me at Universiti Malaya in 2001-2003 has just asked me to remind Malaysians that Lebanon's population consists of at least 35% Christians. Of course, we also know that there is an open Lebanese Communist Party which maintains a trilingual (Arabic, English and French) website at http://www.lcparty.org

Some more pictures showing Lebanese communists engaging in peaceful and open activities in the streets of Beirut can be found at:

In a statement issued on 29 July, the Lebanese Communist Party or الـحـزب الشـيـوعـي اللبـنـانـي called for national defence of the homeland and people as well as resistance to Zionist occupation. Earlier on 13 July, the Communist Party of Israel demanded ceasefire and withdrawal of its own country's troops from Lebanon and Gaza.
