People' s intellectual Dr. M.K. Rajakumar dies

I have just been told that Dr. M.K. Rajakumar, a very well-respected people's intellectual as well as an unyielding forerunner of the people's democratic movement in Malaysia, has passed away at the age of 76. A medical doctor as well as a former Deputy Secretary-General of the now officially defunct Labour Party of Malaya (LPM), he was detained without trial for four years under the Internal Security Act (ISA) from 1966 to 1969. His funeral will take place tomorrow at 3 p.m., leaving from 22-A, Jalan Kent 1, 54000 Kuala Lumpur. Rest in peace, Doctor.
