America' s first female four-star army general

While many of us in the world cheers the presidential triumph of the first Black president in the USA, the country's Army has also selected a woman, Ann E. Dunwoody, as a four-star general on her own merit.

She's not the first female US army general. Previous holders have been the commandant of the Army Nursing Corps (obviously) and also the Surgeon-General of the US Army, basically the head of their medical services, who was both a surgeon and a general.

But this one is a first for a 4-star general.
