Root causes of M'sia-S'pore tensions

Besides the bridge, there are still plenty of other specific or concrete issues to be debated or technical problems solved bileterally between Malaysia and Singapore but as author of Ousted!, the late Patrick Keith had observed in the Forward of his book: " the same political power structures operating 40 years ago, in essence, remain in place today" (p.3).

I suppose he referred to the political structures on both sides of the Causeway because the word 'structures' is spelt in plural, not singular.

Can " the same political power structures operating 40 years ago" which "remain in place today" solved bilateral problems amicably in the 21st century without any psychological and historical baggages first created in the 1960s ? What are these ghosts and spectres still haunting the minds of Zams on both sides of the Causeway? What are the elements of " the same political power structures"?

I think Patrick's book does provide some broad and deep insights.

I don't promote this book for financial reward (for there is none and I'm still quite poor) but only share some reflections on an current issue. Of course, the book itself is a complimentary copy given to this poor lad by publisher Ian Ward and his wife Norma Miraflor for news release and review.
