For the first time in my life, I have actually decorated my house with two traditional red lanterns to welcome the Chinese New Year. Of course, I still make sure that no superstitious images or writings are printed on them. As my father had patiently taught me when I was young, to be cultured is not synomonous with being superstitious and superstition always masks itself as 'traditional culture'.
