End of my very unforgettable trip to Bangkok

My four-day budget trip to Bangkok was very fruitful and productive. Last night, some of us also gathered for a drink and friendly chats at the open-air cafe of the legendary Bangkok Oriental (above) which is situated on the bank of the charming and romantic Chao Phya River.

I love the open air establishments which front the Chao Praya river.
Very nice place for a relaxing chat.

But the Mandarin Oriental is too rarified athmosphere lah...I stayed there on a business trip once, just reminds me of work.

When I'm on makan-angin with family, I usually go for local Thai restaurants on the Thon Buri side of the city.

I agree with you that the atmopshere Oriental is a bit rarified and a bit "stiff" (and very expensive too) but we thought it would be an experience to just visit it for an hour or two for the fun of it.
