Welcoming new U.S. ambassador James Keith
Last evening, I met and greeted the new US ambassador to Malaysia James R. Keith at a social party dinner held in a Kuala Lumpur hotel.

Ambassador James Keith has quite an impressive resume. He's had a lot of experience working as a diplomat with China and South-East Asia.
Apparently also studied Mandarin and Malay.
Unfortunately he will likely only have a short stint as ambassador, maximum 16 months.
George W. Bush leaves office on January 20th, 2009. (Yes, I'm counting down the days until the fella leaves the White House - unfortunately Bushie can still do a lot of damage in the next 16 months - either from action or inaction).
Every ambassador and senior government official automatically tenders his resignation to the new President. In rare cases they get reappointed, but usually somebody else takes over.
