Preaching to already converted always easier

The more effective way to promote the English language is to present the arguments in Malay, Chinese and Tamil mass media. Preaching to the converted is always easier than to try to 'convert the unbelievers'.

p/s: Lateral thinking in the Edward De Dono tradition suggests that English-language newspapers like the New Straits Times is best used to promote Malay, Chinese and Tamil to the English-educated.

with due respect, i must say that Mr. Tan's real motive is to endear himself to the existing English users. Otherwise, he should have written his criticism of Chinese schools in Mandarin and published it in Chinese newspapers. After all, the target of his criticism is the Chinese-educated.

Mr. Tan is trying to promote himself as a 'moderate' Chinese 'experts' to people who don't kow Mandarin. That is all.
