Chin Peng recalls alternative history
When he met the Sin Chew Jit Poh in Bangkok in 1998, Chin Peng told us that he had just been interviewed by the British Brocasting Corporation (BBC) and we were one of the two media organisations in the world he agreed to break his silence for the first time. Professionally, we felt honoured.
That was two years before he began to tell his story and his side of history, with much more details, to Ian Ward and Norma Miraflor who later published it as an instant bestseller Alias Chin Peng: My Side of History (Singapore, Media Masters, 2003).
