Eyewitness to Anwar's downfall

1998 was a year of crisis.

The fall of the value of Ringgit seemed to be unstoppable following the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. The rift between the then Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his deputy Anwar Ibrahim also became increasingly evident.

Finally, Anwar was sacked from the Cabinet and accused of being all sorts of things. Before he was arrested, Anwar stayed defiant at his house in Kuala Lumpur. I was there one off-day to show my personal concern for him and his family.
