Organic root, gratitude

When we met, I was 42, Suriani 81 and Pak Rashid 87.

Pak Rashid never forgets he was born, when Malaya was under colonial rule, into a very poor family in Kampung Gunung Mesah in Perak's Gopeng in the month and year of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Pak Rashid said to me:

" I was a poor boy born in a backward kampong in colonial time and did not have sufficient formal education. I am very grateful to the Party which has transformed me into a man who knows politics and the world in all its complexities and which also trusted me"
