Chinese named World Bank's Chief Economist

Professor Justin Lin Yifu, with whom I exchanged some thoughts and ideas in Kuala Lumpur in mid-2006, has just been appointed as World Bank's Chief Economist. Lin Yifu was a Kuomintang soldier in Taiwan who swam across the Strait of Taiwan to cross over to China in 1979.
